Ruin Guardians
D&D Dungeons and Dragons fantasy art.

Behind you, a lantern guides your steps, so you don’t trip on the vines that grow wildly on the ruin floors. Walking on a path set many years ago, the musky odor of mildew draws you in deeper. It’s warmer in here than you’d expect, and muggy. The walls and floors, pillars and steps are well constructed with granite; smooth and beautifully designed to last many centuries. It’s quiet, except your footsteps. You see statues thirty feet away, fifteen feet off the ground, as if waiting for you to pass by. You hear the crunching of stone, grinding slowly from above. Uncertain what these gargoyle statues represent but their posture, large horns, claws, fangs look menacing were they alive… .
