Your lantern scans the cavern walls that are overgrown with thick, dark vines. You suspect Troglodytes might dwell down here. These reptilian humanoids are a barbarian culture that yearn for iron and steel as these are status symbols. The cavern corridor opens up into a large, oval space; the light that is guiding you fade into its darkness in front and above you. This hollow cavity isn’t unusual for the underground, except there is a very obvious blue reflection fifty feet from you. It’s a blue sapphire. You approach knowing it’s probably worth a thousand gold pieces. Drawing near, at a distance of twenty feet – you hear a coiling thud! A net drops down from above! It’s a trap! Hopefully you have time to escape before something is alerted.

DC 12 Wisdom (Perception) check reveals a tension of rope hidden; else the net is discovered. If discovered DC 10 Dexterity check using thieves’ tools disables the rope, yet a check with less than 6 triggers the trap. A net comes down, because of a rope or lever that is sprung. The net is 20 feet in diameter. DC 10 Dexterity saving throw. Anyone that doesn’t make save throw, is restrained, but can make a DC 13 Strength check, freeing themselves. If there is assist on Strength check, the DC is lowered to 10.
